Locations of Houses & Businesses

This map was mainly compiled from information recorded from the earliest memories of Geoff England of 'Strathmore' & Norman Honeyman of Bodangora. This information was provided by Max Honeyman who has the original copy of the map they produced.

Information was also taken from maps and memories of former Bodangora resident, George Bower, who was born there in 1904. This came from Wellington Historical Society.

Also information was taken from the John Sands NSW Directory - Business Houses in Bodangora 1906 - 1908.

I (Glenn McIntosh) also put in a couple of the obvious omissions from my memories of the 1950's & 1960's.

In its heyday, prior to 1908, as many as 228 miners were employed with the population of Bodangora given as around 900. Therefore this map only covers the period well after the boom years - so there are many omissions.

2006 at 'Strathmore'. L to R - Rex, Sheila & Geoff England & Bruce Olsen from 'Inverness'

This page is dedicated to the memory of Norman Honeyman, Geoff England (who passed away Jan 21st 2008) & George Bower. Without their foresight all this information would probably be lost.

If you can help to add to this database with any old photos of houses or families, please email them to me.
